Clinical and Mycological Study on Tinea Cruris


Abstract
This study was undertaken to investigate the clinical and mycological status of tinea cruris. Six hundred and seventy two patients with tinea cruris who visited to department of dermatology of Seoul National University Hospital and Chungnam National University
Hospital from January 1976 to December 1978 were evaluated clincally and the fungus culture was performed in 58 patients.
Most patients with tinea cruris were males in 2nd to 4th decades. Tinea cruris was most prevalent in summer season (from July to September). Most common concurrent superficial mycosis with tinea cruris was tinea pedis. The incidence of tinea cruris was 3. 4% of total out patients during this period, and tinea cruris was secondarily prevalent superficial mycosis. Etiolgically, Trichophyton rubrum was most prevalent organism in tinea cruris, but Epidermophyton floccosum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes and Trichophyton interdigitale were also isolated.
